SYNOPSIS
Rahul Joshi (Shah Rukh Khan) is a young ambitious man who will do anything
to keep his boss, Siddharth Chaudhary (Aditya Pancholi), happy. Rahul aspires
to start his own advertising agency as promised by his boss and all is going
hunky-dory till Rahul meets and begins to fall in love with a beautiful
girl. His boss also lay his eyes on the same girl, a model named Seema Bakshi
(Juhi Chawla) and desires to add her to his list of mistresses. Seema, a
middle-class hostelite, has dreams of making it to the top of the glamourous
world of high-fashion and acquiring the affluence and fame attached with
it.
While Rahul begins to love Seema, she naively gets taken in by Siddharth's
smooth talk and is drawn into dating him. Rahul's dilemma is that he has
to keep his boss happy to fulfill his ambition and yet he is aware that
his beloved is being conned into a false relationship.
When Siddharth takes Seema on a holiday on the pretext of a photosession,
his scheming brother-in-law (Gulshan Grover) springs a surprise by bringing
Siddharth's rich wife along. To avoid being caught, Siddharth tells her
that Seema is Rahul's new wife and makes the two share the room. This gives
Rahul a chance to get closer to Seema.
The suspicious Gulshan Grover also tells Rahul's mother in Bombay that
Rahul is married and upon their return, when Seema and Rahul share a taxi,
Rahul finds his home has been decorated to celebrate the event. Not wanting
to break his mother's heart, he asks Seema to continue the pretense for
some time more. Seema enters into Rahul's home and gradually begins to love
him and his affectionate mother.
As Seema grows closer to Rahul Gulshan Grover plays Siddharth against Rahul
and convinces him to give Rahul his dream ad agency on the condition that
he leaves Seema. Rahul, suddenly not so sure whether he wants his ad agency
anymore, takes the keys. In the end his love for Seema wins and he exposes
his deceiving boss and settles for less in life but gets Seema in the bargain.
