SYNOPSIS
A remake of the popular novel 'Lace', Dil Aashna Hai is the story is of
Laila (Divya Bharti), who has been brought up in a brothel and works as
a cabaret dancer in Digvijay Singh's five star hotel. At the wedding of
Digvijay Singh's daughter, Laila performs and Karan (Shah Rukh Khan), Digvijay's
only son, falls in love with her. The same evening, she receives a phone
call from her dying mother informing her that she is not her real mother.
Karan helps her in her search for her real mother. Their search leads them
to Razia (Farida Jalal), who divulges that eighteen years ago, three naughty
students in her college - Barkha (Dimple), Salma (Sonu Walia) and Raaj (Amrita
Singh) - fell in love and one of them got pregnant. Laila was the child
that was born. The trio looked after the child as if each were her mother
and nobody besides the three friends knew who was the real mother. After
some time, Laila was handed over to Razia.
Today, Barkha is the Minister of Health and Welfare, Raaj is married to
her boyfriend, a prince and a famous horse-breeder, and Salma is the principal
of the college where the trio had studied. When Laila brings them together,
none of them have the courage to accept her but after many intriguing events
the real birth mother finally accepts Laila.
