SYNOPSIS
Baadshah (Shah Rukh Khan) is a King only in his dreams. In real life, he is just an average detective named Raj whose fame don't go beyond the confines of his own locality. But he is enterprising and accepts every case that comes his way. One of these unusual cases involves duping a young girl Seema (Twinkle Khanna) into marrying the man her father has chosen for her. Seeing the despair of the father Baadshah accepts the case for an astronomical fee. In order to win Seema's love, Baadshah pretends to be blind. This ploy works and Seema soon falls in love with Raj. Of course, he immediately gets his eyesight back with the help of an incredibly talented 'eye surgeon', actually one of his bumbling employees in disguise. But then, Baadshah reluctantly dumps Seema hoping that she will marry the person her father has chosen for her on the rebound. Seema is torn by anguish. He's heart broken himself at having duped a woman he truly loved.

One day, a major case lands in his lap. A diamond merchant's daughter is kidnapped and the distraught father asks Baadshah to bring her back unharmed. On the trail of the kidnappers however, Baadshah stumbles upon a much larger web of international intrigue and conspiracy. He also discovers that Seema's 'father' is a con who's trying to swindle his daughter by getting her married off. Baadshah comes to Seema's rescue and apologises.

At the airport, Baadshah is mistaken for a CBI officer (Deepak Tijori) whose code name is also Baadshah. He is given first-class tickets and when he lands he is taken to a top-secret military establishment where he is fitted with the latest gizmos and gadgets including X-ray glasses and exploding chewing gum. Seema, who is actually the sister of the dead CBI officer, also comes there in search for her brother and meets up with Baadshah.

Baadshah manages to rescue the young girl from the bumbling kidnappers but she, and Baadshah's friends, are later kidnapped by a nightclub owner Thapar (Amrish Puri). He straps a bomb to the young girl and for her release demands that Baadshah kill the Chief Minister during her public speech. Baadshah tries to slip away but finds that the plot is a high-level one involving many powerful people including the chief minister's husband. He somehow manages to sneak into the Chief Minister's room and get the word across to her and save the day.
